Milton Packer makes compelling discussion in his usual skillful fashion.
But indeed should one wish for an ideal observer with no conflicts of interest? Would this not mean an observer without interest? Conflict of inherent interest is the cornerstone of scientific endeavor and curiosity.
May we find observers with conflicts of scientific interest at every level. However, scientific conflict, with own truth and curiosity cannot be biased by greed or wealth or no less importantly for power fame and fortune.
Find a simple and honest scientist, and there are indeed many known to many of us, and no more need be said or discussed.
In today’s world, the lower the altmetric index the more likely the scientific excellence and truth and observer value.Competing Interests: None declared.
