We read with great interest the article by Young et al1 on the impact of pioglitazone on acute coronary events that indicates that pioglitazone decreases the risk of acute coronary syndrome by 29%, specifically in the reduction of the risk of type 1 myocardial infarctions (spontaneous myocardial infarctions).
