In the November 1, 2016, issue of Circulation, we read with great interest the article by Sörensen et al1 on microvascular damage among patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and prediabetes. The authors demonstrated the presence of microvascular damage in these patients by evaluating retinal flicker light–induced retinal arteriolar dilation and heat-induced skin hyperemia. The magnitude of this study and its results give further support to the concept of early microvascular dysfunction among dysmetabolic patients. Although not discussed in this article, renal …
