In the article by Nishimura et al, “2014 AHA/ACC Guideline for the Management of Patients With Valvular Heart Disease: A Report of the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Task Force on Practice Guidelines,” which published online March 3, 2014, in Circulation and appears in the June 10, 2014, issue of the journal (Circulation. 2014;129:e521–e643), several corrections were needed.
In Table 2, the second row read,
It has been moved to be the last line in the table and changed to read,
The following footnote was deleted from Table 2 as well: “*The “ACC/AHA/ESC 2006 Guidelines for the Management of Patients With Atrial Fibrillation” and the 2 subsequent focused updates from 2011 (6,15,16) are considered policy at the time of publication of the VHD guideline. However, a fully revised AF guideline is in development and will include updated recommendations on AF; it is expected that the revised AF guideline will be published in 2014.”
In Section 10.1.2, the first paragraph, first sentence read, “Recommendations for medical therapy follow those for mixed valve disease….” It has been changed to read, “Recommendations for medical therapy follow those for single valve disease….”
In Section 13.3.2, Class IIa, the paragraph under recommendation 3, the first sentence read, “…a goal of at least >2 times control.” It has been changed to read, “…a goal of at least 2 times control.”
In Section 13.3.2, Class IIb, the paragraph under recommendation 2, the second sentence read, “…a goal of at least >2 times control.” It has been changed to read, “…a goal of at least 2 times control.”
