Future Directions in Vascular and Interventional Radiology
The field of vascular interventional radiology remains a fertile area of development for minimally invasive techniques to diagnose and treat vascular disease. Innovative scientists and physicians actively collaborate to develop new treatment paradigms and to refine and enhance previously developed methodology. Exciting new areas of activity, including sympathetic renal denervation for the management of refractory hypertension, the application of nanotechnology and stem cells to stent development, and new balloon catheters, will be described.
Some of the organizational and scientific challenges to the development and implementation of these novel techniques will also be addressed.
