In the article by Smith et al, “Novel Associations of Multiple Genetic Loci With Plasma Levels of Factor VII, Factor VIII, and von Willebrand Factor: The CHARGE (Cohorts for Heart and Aging Research in Genome Epidemiology),” which appeared in the March 30, 2010 issue of the journal (Circulation. 2010;121:1382–1392), the authors state in the Discussion section that an association between variants in the PROCR gene and FVII levels was not previously reported. Although this was true at the time the manuscript was submitted to Circulation for review, March 31, 2009, a paper lead by Dr H.A. Ireland that demonstrated this association was published prior to the publication date of the work by Smith et al.
