In the ACC/AHA Guideline by Fleisher et al, “2007 Guidelines on Perioperative Cardiovascular Evaluation and Care for Noncardiac Surgery: A Report of the American College of Cardiology/American Heart Association Task Force on Practice Guidelines (Writing Committee to Revise the 2002 Guidelines on Perioperative Cardiovascular Evaluation for Noncardiac Surgery),” which published online on September 27, 2007 (DOI: 10.1161/CIRCULATIONAHA.107.185699), 2 changes were needed.
On page e432, the last paragraph in the first column, the second sentence “Perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis is recommended for patients with mitral valve prolapse who have clinical evidence of mitral valve regurgitation or echocardiographic evidence of thickening and/or redundancy of the valve leaflets.109” should read “Specific recommendations regarding perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis for patients with mitral valve prolapse can be found elsewhere.18”
In the References section, reference 109 should be deleted.
These changes were made to the version that printed in the October 23, 2007, issue (Circulation. 2007;116:e418–e499).
