Muscle Bridging of the Left Anterior Descending Coronary Artery

	Introduction

 
In a 62-year-old woman with a history of angina pectoris (New York Heart Association functional class 3) for 15 years, the stress exercise test revealed a significant ST-segment depression in leads V₅ and V₆. Coronary angiography showed the coronary arteries to be normal in diastole (A). In systole, however, a muscle bridge occluding the left anterior descending artery was observed (B). At operation, the muscle bridge over the middle third of the left anterior descending artery was transsected (C). Postoperatively, the patient is free of angina pectoris, and the stress exercise test is normal.
