(Power Point) (22 kb) Role of LTC4 and MRP1 in VSMC. Stimulation with Ang II triggers the production of ROS and the generation of LTC4. LTC4 is transported to the extracellular compartment via MRP1 and stimulates the Cys-LT1 receptor. This in turn leads to further generation and release of LTC4 in a self sustaining cycle. The cycle can be terminated in two different ways, either by MRP1 blockade or by Cys-LT1 receptor inhibition.
