In the article by Sherrid et al that appeared in a previous issue of the journal (Circulation. 1998;97:41–47), an error appeared in the legend of Fig 6. Systolic acceleration should replace the abbreviation, SAM, in one place in the middle of the legend, so that the sentence should have read, "After treatment (bottom tracing), negative inotropes slow early systolic acceleration (shown as a horizontal wavy arrow) and may thereby decrease the force on the mitral leaflet, delaying SAM."
