Editor-in-Chief, Circulation
In this issue of Circulation, we have devoted a significant number of articles to the topic of cardiovascular disease in women. In light of the American Heart Associations "Go Red for Women" campaign, we have endeavored to convey to our readers the importance of reducing the risk and improving the diagnosis and treatment of cardiovascular disease in women with the publication of these articles. Unique pathophysiological determinants of cardiovascular risk, as well as important socioeconomic factors that inappropriately increase the threshold for pursuing the diagnosis of coronary heart disease, serve as key themes in this collection of articles. We trust our readers will find this information interesting and helpful in the management of our female patients and in further reducing the burden of cardiovascular disease in the population.
