Left Ventricular Remodeling After Primary Coronary Angioplasty: Patterns of Left Ventricular Dilation and Long-Term Prognostic Implications

To the Editor:

I was impressed by the follow-up and detailed study by Bolognese et al1 on left ventricular remodeling after primary coronary angioplasty, and by Dr Kern’s accompanying editorial.2 Although the authors gave the results of serial angiograms and echocardiograms, I saw nothing about the functional effects of the adequacy of reperfusion, such as treadmill or other stress test findings. This reminds me of an old saying by T.S. Eliot, "Where is the wisdom we have lost in knowledge? Where is the knowledge we have lost in information?" Accordingly, I would ask "where is the patient we lost in testing?"
