The Demonstration of Left Atrial Enlargement by Body Section Radiography

BERNARD H. PASTOR M.D.1; GEORGE T. WOHL M.D.1; L. THEODORE LAWRENCE M.D.1

1 From the Departments of Medicine and Radiology, Veterans Administration Hospital, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The enlarged left atrium may be poorly demonstrated in conventional rcentgenograms. It can be delineated clearly in such cases by appropriate body section films. Body section radiography may also be helpful in the study of other ill-defined cardiac and vascular contours and in the demonstration of intracardiac calcification.
